Instrumentation: Unterstufenorchester, flexible Besetzung
“Alle Jahre wieder” (“Every Year Again”) is a popular Christmas carol that because of its simplicity is suitable for beginners orchestras. The present arrangement allows a good degree of flexibility: 1. As regards the make-up of the ensemble: the carol can be performed with just one melody instrument and one accompanying instrument but every additional instrument will get closer to the orchestral sound. 2. As to the form: the individual variations merely offer a selection, and even changing the order is conceivable. The arrangement starts with a short introduction which also acts as an intermezzo and a closing section. The string class parts are suitable for beginners who can play only a few notes. This will enable them to join in playing with the orchestra early on. The parts are not given in the score. Both strings and wind players will no doubt appreciate the piece being in the key of C major. The arrangement is easy to play. The performance time is approx. 6-7 minutes.
